The latest episode of the Tennis Days Podcast features a section of an interview I did with Marc McGowan, the man behind Acelandtennis.com.au, a website that follows closely the news and progress of up-and-coming Australian tennis players who are flying under the radar of the mainstream media, yet who still actually perform at an elite level, travelling around the country and the world accrueing ranking points that place them amongst the top 1,000 tenis players in the world, or thereabouts – no mean feat.

Like a lot of tennis fans out there, Marc is starting to get excited about the prospects of some young Aussie players who appear to be breaking through to the upper echelons of the game – players like Jordan Thompson, 19, Maddison Inglis, 15, and Akira Santillan, 16.

Marc and I also chat about some of the ethics and nuances of being a sports journalist and maintaining good relations with players, at the same time as being a straight shooter and providing comprehensive match reports and interviews.

Return of the Fed, recap on Tokyo and Beijing ATP results, starring Delpo, Raonic, Nadal and Djokovic. James Crabtree and I also make some interesting observations on who's made big movements up and down the ranking in the last 12 months. All with the backdrop of us discussing our own tennis careers, and what our goals should be in the next year.

With Tokyo 3rd round being played, as well as 2nd round of Bangkok and KL, the tour is moving faster than I can keep up with, considering this episode is an intro recorded several days ago to what was supposed to be three seperate interviews for this fourth episode of the podcast. Unfortunately, due to technical and scheduling factors, these interviews have to be left out of this ep. What remains is a little taste of how things were looking a few days ago now. One for the archives! Enjoy. (It's very short)

'Tis the eve of the Men's Final in New York, and all are poised to be educated as to who is the best tennis player in the world. Surely, with the 1 and 2 seeds remaining, this match will be definitive on a whole lot of levels...does Nole have what it takes to fend off the Matador, the Beast, Rafa Nadal? Or is Rafa now the best player in the world?

Take a listen to James Crabtree and me, chatting about the pro tennis tour, as well as spinning some ripping yarns about our own recent experiences on the court (or at least mine) in this new-look version of the Tennis Days Podcast, coming at you with some new tunes (my originals) recently recorded in a very good recording studio in Sydney (more of this music to be revealed in future episodes).
